Carthage – UNESCO World Heriatge Site, Phoenician Kart-hadasht, Latin Carthago, great city of antiquity on the north coast of Africa, now a residential suburb of the city of Tunis, Tunisia.
Byrsa Hill – is an important ancient site that once sat at the centre of the thriving city of Carthage, one of the most affluent cities of the classical world. Today containing a host of the city’s archaeological remains and a number of interesting historical sites.
Sousse – an important commercial and military port during the Aghlabid period (800-909) and is a typical example of a town dating from the first centuries of Islam. It was built in 1979 specifically as a tourist center, around a large artificial harbour that provides mooring with 340 berths for luxury yachts, hosting sporting activities from water skiing to paragliding, and several golf courses.
Matmata – That was the setting for the film Star Wars. This village, named after the Berber tribe that inhabits the region is the largest of the troglodyte communities.
Douz – It is a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes that is known as the “gateway to the Sahara”. In ancient times, it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes.
Chebika – the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge.
Tamerza – looks barricaded by its mountain range, as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and the sand hills.
Midès the western – most and arguably the most impressive of these oases which overlooks a breathtakingly high canyon.
Nefta Basket – is considered by most Sufis to be the spiritual home of Sufism, a mystical branch of Islam; many religious buildings are located in the district El Bayadh
Kairouan It is the capital of the Kairouan Governorate in Tunisia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the holiest sites in Islam and the spiritual home of all Tunisians. Explore Kairouan, the city which rises like a dream of ochre and tawny beige, bearing in its serenity 13 centuries of Islamic culture.
Aghlabiden Pools among the world wonders of hydraulic engineering. The pools were built in the 9th century under orders of Prince Abu Ibrahim Ahmad of the relatively short-lived but powerful Aghlabid Dynasty (800 to 909).
Nabeul – Important handicrafts center most famous for pottery, distilled water from orange flowers, its roses and jasmine plants. It is a great town of trade with many specialties: pottery, matting of rush, embroidery, wrought iron.
Kelibia – Visit of a charming fishing port close to a historic vestige and beautiful beaches, this lively fishing port is noteworthy for its 12th century fort overlooking a magnificent panorama of the sea from the top of a hill.
Tunis – The Medina of Tunis is the medina quarter of Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The Medina contains some 700 monuments, including palaces, mosques, mausoleums, madrasas and fountains dating from the Almohad and the Hafsid periods.
